On January 10, 2014 Fred-Eric Essam and Madlen Ehrlich, both members of the board of German NGO ident.africa, met Guenter Nooke, who is patron of the project “A pre-school for Boboyo” since 2012. Since the construction of the pre-school is about to finish at the beginning of 2014, it was the perfect opportunity to meet Mr. Nooke again to discuss recent project activities. Accompanied by Prof. Dr. Christian Raabe (RWTH Aachen University) and Prof. Jo Ruoff (University of Oldenburg), the participants talked about the the current state of the construction work and discussed the expected workload until March 2014.

At the beginning of the meeting the group reflected the joint scientific cooperation between German RWTH Aachen University and Cameroonian University of Maroua. In 2012 the universities started to analyze traditional construction methods of the Sahel in Chad and Cameroon amongst others. Those techniques were combined with modern architecture to create and analyze conceptual buildings. The pre-school in Boboyo is the first building, based on this new method of construction.

During the meeting, images from the construction field were shown to demonstrate the progress in construction work, but also the amazing collaboration between German voluntary students from RWTH Aachen University and University of Oldenburg with local workers.

Towards the end of the meeting, Fred-Eric Essam took the opportunity to hand over an official invitation to Mr. Nooke: CODEBO, the Comité de Dévelopement de Boboyo and long-term cameroonian partner NGO of ident.africa, invited Mr. Nooke to inaugurate the pre-school along with ident.africa.

Fred-Eric Essam, founder of German NGO ident.africa: “We would like to thank Mr. Nooke for inviting us to Berlin and supporting our work for about 2 years.”
