A pre-school for Boboyo: foundation stone ceremony with Annette Coly, Chief of Cooperation at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cameroon

On December 17, 2013 Annette Coly, Chief of Cooperation at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Yaoundé, visited Boboyo, a village in the north of Cameroon. She aimed at informing herself about the latest project of Germany-based NGO ident.africa. During her visit, Madlen Ehrlich, board member of ident.africa, and Pascal Zoua, president of CODEBO, asked Mrs. Coly to join the foundation stone ceremony for the new pre-school in Boboyo.

The construction of the pre-school is the result of a cooperation between RWTH Aachen University (Gemany) and the University of Maroua (Cameroon). Students of both universities worked together to analyze the traditional architectural style and techniques of the Sahel. Best practicies then were combined with modern architecture. At the University of Maroua, 4 experimental building were erected. The results of the analysis formed the basis for the development of a pa­vi­lon concept, which now is build in Boboyo for the very first time. Thanks to the BMZ, ident.africa and CODEBO, 60 children will be able to attend classes in one of the 3 pavilions of the pre-school.

Patron of the project is Guenter Nooke, Angela Merkel’s personal representative for Africa in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
