Heike Henkel, patroness of the tournament: “We are hoping to see again 60 teams playing in the age classes from U11 up to U17. This is the perfect event to get in the mood for the upcoming women’s soccer world cup. I am looking forward to open the tournament and to hand over the trophies after the game.”
The participation at the tournament is free of charge for the soccer teams. The revenues are generated with the sale of food, drinks, sports clothing and other things and are used for the construction of a tailoring facility in Boboyo, a village in the north of Cameroon. In the future, this tailoring facility will allow 10 to 15 women to receive an education and to have a permanent work place. For this plan sewing machines are urgently needed. Fred-Eric Essam, chairman of ident.africa e.V.: “A sewing machine costs approximately 120 Euros. It is our aim to organize at least 10 sewing machines, furniture and further tools, such as needles, scissors, seam rippers, rulers, tape measures and thimbles.”
In order to make the event a happening for the whole family like in the subsequent years, attractions like a bouncy castle, face painting, goal shooting and other highlights will be organized.
