With the slogan “Education is the key to success”, ident.africa is committed to various educational projects in Cameroon. This also includes improving the framework conditions for pupils, for example by providing them with clean drinking water. As a long-standing strategic partner, the Heider Kober Foundation is pleased to have secured the construction of the drinking water well for the students and families in northern Cameroon.
The new water well is part of the project “A garden for Boboyo” and already secures not only the pupils and the staff but also the residents of the village with fresh and clean drinking water. In this way, the Munich-based foundation once again supports disadvantaged children not only to protect them from diseases in the long term, de Heider Kober Foundation is giving the go-ahead for another sustainable project, “A Garden for Boboyo” in the Extreme-North of Cameroon.
The aim of the project “A garden for Boboyo” is to build up a school garden during the early education and care. The students thus have a responsibility for nature and a basic knowledge of organic food cultivation. Through the community garden cultivated by the parents and the food grown there, the schoolchildren’s catering is to be improved and thus a contribution to the food security of the preschool pupils is to be realised. The aim is to impart knowledge of sustainable cultivation methods adapted to regional conditions.
Boboyo is located in the extreme north of Cameroon in the department of Mayo Kani, that belongs to the Extreme North region, which borders the Republic of Chad to the north and east. Boboyo has about 15,000 inhabitants, who are spread over several districts.
Boboyo was defined by the association ident.africa e.V. as a lighthouse project for the Mayo Kani region and has to date – partly in coordination with the Heider-Kober Foundation – implemented the pillars of education, employment and health. A major advantage of the projects is the involvement of regional institutions and individuals.
About Heider-Kober Foundation
The Heider-Kober-Stiftung, or HKS for short, was established as a trust foundation of the Stiftung Kinderfonds and recognized as worthy of support by the Munich tax office. The purpose of the foundation is the promotion of non-profit projects in the field of children and young people. The Heider-Kober Foundation sees itself as an independent foundation that is not bound to any religion, nation or party. The driving force behind the foundation were the brothers Christoph and Stephan Heider as well as Steffen Kober, who gave the foundation their name and currently form the board of the foundation together with Inka Fritzsche.
